About this design
1090 ft2 per unit
3 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms
The Beacon 3 Bedroom is a 16.7-foot wide, 1090 square foot home featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, an open-plan living/dining/kitchen and a primary bedroom with an ensuite bath. The open, cross-grain stairwell, top-lit with a skylight, minimizes circulation and mitigates the claustrophobic interior common in skinny townhouses.
The design is modular-friendly, utilizing four unfolding volumetric modules (two per floor) and standalone ‘wet’ modules for each bathroom. Twenty-foot long modules support maneuvering onto tight urban sites.
The Beacon can be flipped and mirrored, with twin entry locations. Options include a three-story, four-bedroom, 1377 square foot version with a lower level or garage. Various trussed roof lines are possible, like gables or a butterfly roof to create a distinctive sawtooth silhouette. The design can be ganged or staggered to reach densities of about 27 units per acre.
